CBSE Class 9, 11 Exams 2021: Should exams be conducted Online or Offline? [Poll]

 

CBSE Class 9, 11 Exams 2021 would begin soon in many schools across the country. While the Central Government or CBSE has not shared any directive, many are asking for online exams this year. What do you think?

Central Board of Secondary Education, CBSE recently released dates for Class 10, 12 Board Examinations 2021, scheduled to be conducted in May-June. As for the CBSE Class 9, 11 examinations, most of the schools would be conducting the final exams in February- March, as per the normal schedule. The mode of the exam, however, remains to be a matter of concern.

Class 10, 12 board examinations would be conducted offline. As for CBSE Classes 9 and 11 exams, the discussions regarding offline and online examinations have left schools and students divided. While the government has not mandated a mode, most of the private schools are tempted to conduct offline exams. Government schools too are suggesting offline exams. Many students, however, are pressing for online exams.

As for a directive from the board, there is none. CBSE does not set nor alter the syllabus for Classes 9 and 11. It has, however, given schools to permission to manage the curriculum as they may seem fit. While schools wait for directives and parental consent, tell us what you think. Arguments for Online Exams

Following the permissions by Central Government, most of the states have now reopened the schools for students of Classes 9 to 12. Over the past three months (following the permission) the government as well as private schools have seen a steady increase in attendance. Students of classes 10 and 12 are now attending classes, getting some classroom coaching before the board examinations in May.

For students of Classes 9 to 11, however, most of the schools have barely managed a few weeks of offline classes at max. In some states – like in Delhi and also in Mumbai BMC region, schools have not yet reopened for students of classes 9 and 11. As such, students and parents are arguing that calling students for offline exam exposes them to unnecessary risk.

Some have also pointed out that conducting offline examinations without actual classroom coaching is unfair to the students. Most students are not comfortable going to school as yet. Under such circumstances, it would be unfair to conduct offline exam.

Arguments for Offline Exams

School authorities and teachers, however, are of the opinion that offline examinations are important. Many have even cited rampant cheating as a cause of concern for online examinations. Even though there are many tools, conducting proctored examinations also do not ensure fair examinations.
