About the ISRO

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is India’s national space agency. It serves as the principal research and development arm of the Department of Space (DoS), overseen by the Prime Minister of India, with the Chairman of it also serving as the chief executive of the DoS. It is primarily responsible for space-based operations, space exploration, international space cooperation, and the development of related technologies. The agency maintains a constellation of imaging, communication, and remote-sensing satellites. It operates the GAGAN and IRNSS satellite navigation systems. It has sent three missions to the Moon and one mission to Mars.

On the suggestion of scientist Vikram Sarabhai, then-Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru established the Indian National Committee for Space Research (INCOSPAR) in 1962. In 1969, it changed its name and became part of the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE). Its creation institutionalized India's space research endeavors. The government established the DoS and a Space Commission in 1972, placing ISRO under its jurisdiction. Since then, it has been run by the Department of Science, which also oversees a number of other astronomy and space technology-related organizations.

Individual Registration: A “Course Participation” certificate will be given to everyone who devotes at least 70% of each session’s hours to the course. The course participation certificate will be available for download in ISRO LMS.
