LIC Golden Jubilee Scholarship

LIC Golden Jubilee Scholarship 2024-25 is an opportunity offered by the Life Insurance Corporation of India*, to students who have passed Class 10, 12 passed and  students from economically weaker sections who wish to pursue higher studies. The selected candidates will receive up to ₹40,000 per annum. Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) is a public sector life insurance company that is owned by the Government of India. It was established with an objective of promoting education, health, relief of poverty or distress and advancement of other objects of general public utility.




Eligibility

To be eligible, an applicant must:-

General Scholarship:-

  • have passed the Class 10 or 12 examination or its equivalent regular/vocational/diploma courses
  • have secured at least 60% marks (or equivalent grade)
  • be pursuing higher education in the field of vocational/diploma courses in a government-recognised college/institution or course in Industrial Training Institutes (ITI)
  • have an annual parent(s)/guardian(s) income of not more than ₹2,50,000 from all sources

Special Scholarship for Girl Child:- 

  • have passed Class 10 examination (or its equivalent) in the academic year 2023-24 
  • have secured with at least 60% marks (or equivalent grade)
  • be pursuing higher studies in intermediate/(10+2) pattern/vocational or diploma courses in a government-recognised college/institution or course in Industrial Training Institutes (ITI) for two years
  • have an annual parent(s)/guardian(s) income of not more than ₹2,50,000 from all sources

Note:- 

  • This scholarship is specifically for students pursuing their first degree, such as undergraduate programs or their equivalent (including integrated courses). It is not applicable for students continuing their education through postgraduate studies.
  • An annual income limit relaxation from ₹2,50,000 to ₹4,00,000 will be given to families where a woman (widow, single mother, or unmarried) is the only financial provider. This means that families with a woman as the only earning member can qualify for the scholarship even if their income is slightly higher than the usual limit.

Selection Criteria

  • The selection process for scholarships will follow a merit-based approach, considering both gender and eligibility criteria. Out of the initial 30 shortlisted students, 20 will be awarded General Scholarships, divided equally between 10 males and 10 females.

  • Additionally, 10 females will be selected for the Special Scholarship for Girl Child. The final decisions on scholarship allocation will be made by the Divisional Office.

Terms and Conditions

  • Students who already receive scholarships from other trusts or institutions are ineligible for the LIC Golden Jubilee Scholarship. This rule, however, does not apply to students receiving government-funded scholarships for Scheduled Caste (SC) or Scheduled Tribe (ST) students, whether received before or after being selected for this scholarship.
  • Students who enter the second year of an engineering degree program through lateral entry, or who begin their first year after completing a diploma in engineering, are eligible for this scholarship. This eligibility is contingent upon achieving a minimum of 60% marks in their immediate preceding diploma year.
  • Candidates who are pursuing courses under any stream through correspondence or part-time (evening or night classes) and/or through open universities shall not be eligible for the scholarship. 
  • Candidates who are pursuing Chartered Accountants (CA)/Company Secretary (CS)/ Institute of Cost and Works Accountants of India (ICWA) or similar self-study courses are also not eligible for the scholarship.
  • Students must secure at least 55% marks or equivalent grades in their previous year's annual exams to retain their General Scholarship within the Medical or Engineering stream. Failure to meet this minimum performance requirement will result in discontinuation of the scholarship. Additionally, students are expected to pass all subjects in every mid-term semester to maintain their eligibility.
  • Students must secure at least 50% marks or its equivalent grade in the previous year's exams to continue their General Scholarship for undergraduate programs (Arts, Science, Commerce, etc.),. Failing to do so will result in the scholarship being discontinued. Additionally, students must pass all subjects in every mid-term semester to maintain their eligibility.
  •  The students should be regular in attendance for which the guidleines shall be decided by the competent authority of the school/college/university. 
  •  If a student violates any terms and conditions of the scholarship, the scholarship may be suspended or cancelled.
  • Any student discovered to have used false statements or forged documents to secure a scholarship will have their scholarship immediately revoked. Additionally, the Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) Divisional Administration may, at their own discretion, require the student to repay the scholarship amount already received.
