About the NHRC Short-term Internship 2025

The National Human Rights Commission has expressly been mandated to promote Human Rights literacy and awareness vide Section 12 (h) of the Protection of Human Rights Act, 1993. With a view to spread awareness among University students about the need for protection and promotion of Human Rights, the Commission has been regularly conducting Internship Programmes since 1998.

A two-week "Online Short Term Internship Programme – January 2025 (OSTI-January 2025)" will begin on January 28, 2025, and run through February 7, 2025.

 

Eligibility Criteria

• Students studying in 3rd year and onwards of any integrated 5-year PG Course.
• Students studying in 3rd / final year of a graduation course;
• Students of any semester/ year of any degree course (also applicable to the students in a three-year LL.B program).
• Students of any semester/ year of any post-graduate diploma course.
• Students who are research scholars in any stream.

Brief Course Structure of

The brief Course Structure of the Online Short Term Internship – ( 27th January to 7th February 2025 ) would be as stated below-

About 35-40 sessions on various human rights issues are proposed to be covered to sensitize the interns. The OSTI- January 2025 will include the following inputs:

• Address/ Interaction with Hon’ble Chairperson and Members of NHRC and other domain Experts including senior Govt. of India Officials.
• Group Project work on Human Rights issues.
• Book Review to be submitted by the students
• Screening of Films on Human Rights concerning child and bonded labor issues, Trafficking, Health including mental health and  Education issues, etc.
• Virtual Field Visit to Jail, Police Station & NGO/ Shelter Homes. In these virtual visits, the interns get to see the workings of these institutions and may get their related questions addressed.

• The last date for submission of the application is 16th January 2025 (18.00 hours). The ‘Application Form’ for The short Term Internship Programme- January 2025 is available at the link ‘Online Short Term Internship’.
• Application to be submitted Online using link – Online Short Term Internship available at NHRC’s website https://nhrc.nic.in. All the applications should be submitted through this online platform only.
• Suppose any discrepancy, such as Marks/ CGPA/ Percentage is found in the details given in any application. In that case, the applicant will be barred from future programs of NHRC along with rejection of such application.

Award of NHRC Short-term Internship 2025

• Every student intern who completes their internship successfully will get a stipend of Rs. 2000 (Rupees Two Thousand only).
• The candidates will receive certificates of participation based on their discipline, timely submission of project reports and group project presentations, book reviews, and participation in online sessions.
• Attendance at all internship sessions is required of interns. No leave application will be considered.
