Hello Studenst
After Vivek High School at Sector 38, where a Class XI student tested positive two days after appearing for a test in school premises, other private schools, which were earlier adamant on holding physical exams despite repeated requests from parents, have taken a U-turn and decided to hold more than 50% exams online.
On Wednesday, St John’s School at Sector 26 sent a message to parents of students of Class IX, informing them that three out of five exams will now be held in online mode.
The message to parents stated that, “This is to inform you that certain papers (starting from tomorrow) will be held online to ensure safety of children. We are ensuring that classrooms will be aired out for longer periods and sanitised to safeguard children against any possibility of infection.” The message further contained instructions for the online exams.
The school authorities said, “St John’s has sent a message to parents keeping in mind the safety of boys. Some exams will be held online, thus giving longer gaps to sanitise furniture and classrooms to avoid any infection. Our parents are pleased with our decision to keep our boys safe.”
“It is strange that the UT education department has turned a deaf ear and is not directing schools to hold online exams. Everyday there is news from different states where students and staff are testing positive. All other countries are taking great precautions and ours is the only country which is taking the pandemic so leniently,” said a parent requesting anonymity.
